When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. Luke 9:10-11
Although Jesus never let anyone or anything deter him from his purpose, he was not too busy with his agenda to welcome people, share his message (he spoke to them about the kingdom of God), and serve them (and healed those who needed healing). Unlike Jesus, I do get swayed from my primary focus, and I am often “too busy.”
Please clarify my focus, so I will be more like Jesus, keeping the main thing the main thing, knowing your will for me, unswerving. I pray also that I would welcome and serve those whom you send to me.
Jesus responded to those who needed healing by healing them. Moved by love and compassion, he responded by doing what was in his power to do. I can’t “heal,” but I can, moved by love and compassion like Jesus, do what is in my power to do.
Jesus, I love your example; you lived a perfectly holy life, and yet, you are an example I can follow. Thank you for allowing me to participate in life with you.
