A Scepter in God’s Hand

I have a friend, a stay-at-home mom, who has the royal dignity and authority of the King of Kings. The other day as she shared with me an interaction with a struggling friend, it was so clear that God was using her in this person’s life. She doesn’t have a position of worldly authority, but she was bringing the presence of Christ into a difficult situation, speaking truth in love and listening with grace. I had a vision of her being a scepter in God’s hand, being used mightily for His purpose.

Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
  Psalm 45:6

You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
Isaiah 62:3

While she sometimes feels temporarily sidelined because of her current position in life, it is clear that God can use us mightily in all situations because of His strength, not our own. How can He use you to further His purposes, right where you are?

(scepter, diadem – symbols of royal dignity and authority.)
