The other morning, as I sat to pray, I humbly entered into God’s presence worship Him. I praised Him for His mercy on the people in another country in the face of a recent huge natural disaster. And then, following one of those trains-of-thought that can happen so easily, I was soon imagining this certain cheese, picturing the slices and marveling at how good it tastes. The vision of it was hovering life-size at the center of my thoughts.
What a clear – and pathetic – picture of how easily I put something else in God’s place! I could only apologize to God, the Creator of the universe who sacrificed His Son for me, who holds all things in His hands, who knows all and has authority over all and knows and loves me intimately and works for my good in all things, and return my attention to Him. My desire is to better keep my focus on Him.
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Deuteronomy 4:39
Thank you Barb for your thoughts. My mind wanders too. Love, Molly
