On the Throne

I approached God with a fearful and anxious heart, caught up in concerns. But He lifted my head to His throne, reminding me to worship Him and trust His sovereign control, enabling me to let go of my burdens.

My prayer this season has been to worship Him more, to remember that He is on the throne, and to give Him His due praise. The other day as I sat to pray, ready with a list of concerns for the day, I remembered to look to Him on His throne, and it stopped me short. I could only sit in silence and gaze upon His glory. Slowly, I am being reoriented towards God on His throne, like a compass needle pointing north. Though my needle quivers, it doesn’t stray so far or so long as before.

The twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:10-11

I also pray that I will see what else I allow on the throne of my life. Only Jesus belongs there.

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne…Revelation 5:6

Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:16-17
